The Mythology & Folklore Database

Help Us Keep the World's Premier Mythological Resource Free for Everyone

The Mythology Database is a not-for-profit academic resource dedicated to making the myths of the world accessible, searchable, and usable by scholars, students, storytellers, and enthusiasts—completely free of charge.

Maintained soley by myself, Jon F White (creator of the Crecganford YouTube channel), this database is the product of thousands of hours of careful research, digitization, programming, and academic curation.

It’s used by researchers and educators in universities across the globe, and it continues to grow—offering access to over 300,000 myths and narratives, with ongoing expansion and refinement. My goal is simple: to create the most complete, accurate, and scholarly collection of mythological knowledge available online.

Why I Need Your Support

Keeping this project online and free to use involves considerable time and costs—hosting, development, maintenance, and research—not to mention the meticulous editorial work involved in standardizing and expanding the database.

I’ve kept this project advertisement-free and open-access because I believe this material should belong to everyone.

If you value this work, and if the database has helped you in your studies, your teaching, your research, or even just your curiosity, please consider supporting it financially. Your donation directly funds the work that goes into maintaining and expanding this resource.

How You Can Support

A Note of Thanks

To my Patreons and everyone else who has supported me—whether financially, through sharing the database, or simply by using and valuing the work—thank you.

This project exists because of a shared belief in the value of understanding our mythological heritage. Every donation is a vote of confidence that helps preserve and extend that work.

With your support, I can continue to maintain and grow this resource, keeping it open for anyone—anywhere in the world—who wants to explore the stories that shaped humanity.
